To Kill a Mockingbird

Mockingbird
Mockingjay

To Kill a Mockingjay….. Wait Mockingbird.

Now those of us who have read this book know that the Mockingbird differs very much from the Mockingjay that we all know and love, thanks to Hunger Games, but anyways back to Mockingjay…. Bird sorry.

So many schools are thinking about banning this book, and it’s all because of more modern literature that they want to bring in, like Hunger Games, now in my personal opinion I would love this if I actually got a chance to read that series and all for school credit! However, To Kill a Mockingbird actually had some pretty good lessons that you could learn from this book.

Much like Hunger Games, To Kill a Mockingbird focus on the family and staying together through the thick and thin no matter who is trying to kill you and your family. Like Katniss fighting for her life among the arena, poor little Scout has to fight her way through the social world that surrounds her family and the catastrophe of her father losing his first case, the trial of a black man, Tom Robinson, for raping a white girl, Mayella Ewell (which is totally false). Once the trial is finished neither side is happy with the results, Tom gets put in prison, and Bob Ewell, the father of Mayella, his reputation (what was left of it) gets thrown down the garbage. So Bob then threatens Atticus and his family’s life and this is where Scout has to figure out how to protect herself.

Now let’s think back onto the Hunger Games, anyone remember who Katniss’ main enemy was? That’s right! CATO!!!!! Who is Scouts’ main enemy? Anyone? Well I’ll say it for you, its Bob Ewell…. Eghh. Yeah he’s not the best guy to have chasing you around in the dark. With a knife. While your dressed as a ham. And your older brother is on the ground with a broken arm… Needless to say Scout vanquishes her foe! Well sort of, Boo Radley, creepy next door neighbor, comes and does the dirty work, stabbing him, for Scout.

So now after I’ve bored you with endless streams of mixing and matching the Hunger Games to Kill a Mockingbird, showing you how certain things match up and how they are useful to us. But, hey I did do one thing right!

Do you know what that was????

Didn’t think so! HA!!!

Neither do I so I guess we’re both even.

But back to the boring story about people running around killing each other in a stupid arena. Mocking…jays? Wait wrong story.

So back to the boring story of saving your family and never giving up. To Kill a Mockingbird thingy I don’t even know what it is anymore. So in the end I guess schools should enforce this book more in public schools. Since all I can remember is Katniss. We do need some more of this so that we can be thankful that we didn’t grow up back then.

Crazy Articles

Police Found Guilty After a Creepy Case of Cannibalism

This is just too creepy… I mean who would think of committing such hideous crimes! I’m so glad that this guy got put away. However, I don’t know if you can convict a person because of the thoughts that they have had. On the contrary though if he was planning to actually go and commit these crimes, then he should be put away for the safety of the community into like an asylum or some other mental institute.

If the courts start to come out and start putting people away because of the “thoughts” that they’ve had then we are on our way onto a tyranny where people dictate our thoughts for us. Also how do the courts know what we have been thinking? That right there is creepy as well.

Now I’m not defending this guy, I’m just saying that the courts can’t try someone for the thoughts that they’ve had or that other people have made them think.

Google Concedes That Drive-by Prying Violated Privacy

Google Admits to Street View Project Privacy Breech

I don't understand why or even how Google was able to accomplish this without people knowing. I mean some people would have firewalls that would alert them to that right? Also how would they fit enough equipment into those little cars? However, it is amazing that Google was able to pull this off and not have people notice it for a while.

Its also strange that its now that Google has to go to court, why didn't anyone bring them to court sooner? Or even at least contact Google about this theft. However, is this accessing private information? Or is it just letting people know that this is possible? I mean couldn't any person come with their own supplies and take that same information off of the peoples networks??

Come on people, anyone could have come and taken that same information off of your computer. Also they probably wouldn't have come out and admitted that they took it. I think these people are lucky that it was Google, and that they admitted to those crimes.

Current Events That Should or Should Not Have Happened

New York Times: New Sanctions from the U.N. against North Korea

I think it’s quite strange that even though we've had sanctions against North Korea before, and they've threatened us before yet each of their threats has meant nothing. But, now North Korea decides that anymore “attacks” will be probable cause for war??? That’s insanity! They know that if they declare war, they’ll be crushed. So why do they continue to send these stupid threats? Also do they not realize that their biggest supporter just helped right these sanctions against them? China is sick of this attitude as is the rest of world. Kim Jong-un we all know you come from a family of tyrannical brats but the time for screaming and whining is over. Yes you have your little bombs but you’re dealing with people bigger, better armed, and much stronger than you ever wished you could become, so stop it.

New York Times: South Korea Pushes back on North Korea's Threats

South Korea put the big boy pants on. And I mean that in a good way, South Korea is sick of the N.K. playing their stupid games about being treated unfairly and then going out and threatening the U.S. about declaring war. South Korea has finally realized how dumb it is to constantly have a nuclear armed country that "threatens" you. They know that they can take out N.K. and their more than willing to do it. South Korea has said that if N.K. decides to attack or destroy any building, that they will shoot back and take out whatever person shot at them, where he shot it from, and they will also attack up the chain of command in the N.K. South Korea is more than ready to show N.K. just how ready and prepared they are to attack and defend their own country. Way to go South Korea.

How to Choose the Right Snowboard

Now many people actually mess up on choosing their board, and there-by they sometimes
have a bad time when they ride their board for the first time. Most people
don't even know what their board is capable of. They think
that their board is perfect. Well here are some
tips to use when buying your
first actual
SNOWBOARD!!!
My Local Board Shop, known as BOP (Board of Provo)

Step 1) First go to your local board shop, having your body information with you.
  • Weight
  • Height
  • Shoe Size
  • And what kind of tech. you want your board to have built in.

Now for weight you'll just to jump into your friends arms and see if they drop you ;) Haha or you could just use a scale to figure that out if you don't want to let your friend guess how fat you may be.

For height measure yourself as well or you could have the guys at your local board shop guess for you. Now a myth that many people have with looking for a board is that if it comes up to your chin your good.

However, this is not the case, in fact some people may need a longer or shorter board depending on the many other factors. This chart below may help you figure out what size of board you may need.

For shoe size..... if you don't know this because your mom is still buying your shoes, then you may struggle.

Okay for this next tech. part you may want to have to figure out what kind of tech. you want your board to be upgraded with. Now there are many kinds of tech that are already built into the boards that you are able to buy. Now I will go through each kind of tech. So you can figure out what kind of board you want to have.

Rocker And Reverse Camber Illustration John Antoski

Rocker: Rocker (Reverse Camber), at its basic, is a design technology built into the board intended to make snowboarding easier.

Snowboarders of all skill levels will appreciate rocker. Yet regular riders, progressing riders and people who haven’t been on a board for years can enjoy an almost immediate boost from rocker’s performance attributes.

Rocker boards offer more bounce than traditional snowboards and float easily in powder. Riders who are developing or rediscovering their skills quickly appreciate rocker’s easiness and quick ability to carve and pop off jumps.
Traditional Camber Illustration John Antoski

Camber: With Camber tech. you can basically go back to old school kind of riding. This pretty much allows you to have a good natured board that can allow you to still have that turning capability even on super hard snow.

With Camber you also have a natural pressure pushing down on the middle of your board from your weight which effectively lets you go faster, carve better, and pop harder on the groomed trail at resorts and where snow is packed down.

Cambered Medley Illustration John Antoski

Combined Camber: This is basically the total combined bests of both kinds of technology. In its essence this board is kind of like the trick/park board. Because of its unique shape and camber areas this board can offer a lot of pop, speed, and height when going off a jump.

However, some drawbacks from this board is the fact that it may be a little harder to turn if you are not used to getting pulled back a bit. It also has problems when you are trying to ride on powder because the nose and tail are not as high as the other boards are.

Step 2) Now the next step once you are in your local board shop and they have narrowed down the boards to just brand names and decals, its time for you to look at those interesting board decals and choose the one that best fits your personality.

Your definitely going to want to think this through, not just because of the huge selection you're offered but also because of the fact that your board is an extension of yourself and who you are.

Another reason you're going to want to think this through is the fact that that each snowboard brand can mean certain things to your board. Some of the bigger brand names (ex: K2, Burton, Ride, Nitro, etc.) will have added additions to the board or they may have different terms of returning any damaged goods. So its always a good idea to research each brand and figure out which one you would prefer.

Step 3) Once you've chosen your board it is now time to pay for it and then go ride that sucker!! This is always may favourite part in ridding the new board is usually that first run.

So I hope this blog post has been helpful for you to know what you have to think about next time you are buying a snowboard. If you feel that there is anything that I missed, leave me a comment and I'll get back to you.

How to Annoy People to Death

Well this is definitely something that I excel at and can teach you how to do. Hopefully these steps will help you in making someone supper annoyed!
Well we all know that we need this some days, its just a part of life. And seeing as I'm the one who knows it the best I'll give it to you folks. Now we all know someone who gets on our nerves and we all need to either get back at them or show them how to do it right.
Well these are some ideas that me and some of my friends (much more annoying then me) came up with ;) ENJOY!!!
If you have any more ideas comment them below.

1) Breath very deep and as nosily as possible when its quiet.
2) Whistle as loud as possible, and then look around like you don't know who did it.
3) When someone sneezes look at them and say, " Do you struggle with that disease to?"
4) When someone tries to give you a high five, miss on purpose and blame it on them.
5) Keep poking the same person every time you see them throughout the day.

6) Walk really slowly in front of someone when the halls are really crowded.
7) Every time someone tells you something ask "why?"
8) Fake a British accent every time someone talks to you.
9) Stare at someone with a really awkward face until they look away.
10) When someone comes to shake your hand grab their arm instead and shake their arm.
11) Scream "GRAPE!" in the middle of lunch, and then proceed to throw a grape at someone.
12) When someone is trying to do something on their touch screen, proceed to keep touching the screen every few seconds.
13) When someone isn't looking grab their stuff and spread it all over the room.
14) When no one is watching pour hand sanitizer on their seat right before they sit down.
15) Tap your pencil repeatedly against your desk till class is over.
16) In foreign language class start speaking in the opposite language your supposed to. (ex. French-Spanish, Russian-Chinese, Korean-Japanese, etc)

17) When telling a joke that isn't funny and someone interrupts you. Proceed to start it over but only 10x louder.
18) Walk really close to someone and breathe very heavily.
19) Yell, "BOMB!" and then proceed to run around like a mad man pushing everyone down to the ground.
20) Right in the middle of someone giving a presentation, suddenly look up, slap your hands on your desk, look at them, raise your hand, and then say, "Wait I didn't get that, will you say it again".
21) Bring enough cookies for your classes, and then proceed through the whole day not giving any of them to anyone.
22) Randomly call people during class and see if their phone is on.
23) When your called on to read something, read it extra extra slowly.
24) When eating or chewing something, make sure you chomp it with your mouth wide open.
25) Sneeze really close to someone standing close to you.
26) Walk in late to class and make-up a big story about how you were abducted by aliens.
27) When someone spills all of their paper onto the ground, run and either spread them all out farther, or grab some and run away from them.
28) When you see a book that has a bookmark in it pull it out and stick it on a totally different page.
29) Go to a fast food place eat half of your order and then walk up to the counter and say that you want a new one.
30) Don't share your bacon.

Well I hope these will help you annoy someone to death! If there are some not listed above, then give me a comment and I'll add it to the list!
Another annoying idea posted by Andrew Sessions "I found out a great way to annoy fast food workers. Wait for at least 3 minutes between ordering each meal at the drive through when you have a large group. It really works!
And if you want to go all the way, ask them how their day has been when you pull up to the window!
However, you may want to be careful with the annoyances...you might get shot (see Jiho's blog)".

Fellow Snowboard Blogs

Angry Snowboarder:
http://www.angrysnowboarder.com/

This blog has many articles of snowboarding all over the USA but it also focus on the mid western part of snowboarding [even though they don't have very good snow or mountains ;)].

However, the news is very good and it has some sweet pictures, videos, and pro reviews!!! They also include cool pro comments, trick how-to's, and most importantly..... SNOWBOARDS. They mostly talk about each board that they've tested and tell you the good's and the bad's about the boards.

This blog pretty much has it all and is perfect for any snowboarder who wants to catch up on the latest snowboard news and such. It's just amazing.... not much else to say ;)

Snowboarding Days:
http://www.snowboardingdays.com/

This blog is AMAZING. That simple.

Its perfect it has a lot to offer. With amazing pictures and backgrounds, it also includes pro statements, videos, pictures, and actually interviews with some amazing pros!! It also has links to some of their favorite blogs and shops so that you can also go there and check them out too.

This blog also includes chances to win FREE GEAR!! Its just so nice to have a blog that isn't bagging on the pros. Also another good thing about this blog is that it has the list of where the pros have been and what they did at those places so you can then go there and try your own tricks.

The last great thing that this blog has to offer is that it gives a history of some of the biggest snowboard brands and companies in the history of snowboarding and how they rose to the top and what the next thing that they are going to come out with, which if your like me, your just dying to know!
Snowboarding Days - A Snowboard Blog

Eternal Snowboarding:
http://blog.eternalsnow.com/

This blog is sweet! It has all these stories about pros working or making their next movie. It also talks about which snowboard companies are on top and what their next big thing is. But, the best part would have to be how it stays on focus with... SNOWBOARDING!!!

This is truly one of the best blogs I've seen. I want my blog to be like this blog but also have some religious stuff in so that other people can also relate to it and how not everyone has their perfect days.

This blog is also updating about stuff that is trending with Snowboarding, or what is actually going on in the pros world. It also includes places for you to go and buy stuff, look at their own team, and look at the new gear that they have going on sale or are giving away.

Another thing about this blog that is good, is the fact that it is set up very well and I am able to read it in a glance and see which articles that I like and may want to come back and read later on.

Reflecting on the Past Week

Whoa....... I have never seen so many colleges in that amount of time. In just a single week my entire class traveled to the three main colleges in the state of Utah. BYU (eh), UVU (eh eh), and U of U (WHOOO!).
Day 1: Haha as you can tell I really like U of U. However, that being said I did enjoy BYU; we got to tour campus and see all the different buildings and where certain classes were being held. Then we got to go to the devotional that morning and it was an amazing devotional. After that we had lunch and then toured campus some more and that's when we walked into their library. Now I've seen some pretty amazing libraries and BYU's was amazing! I loved it! Just the feel and seeing rows after rows of books! It was just awesome. After touring we met up at the Hinckly center and then went home.

Day 2: UVU was the second campus we went to, and this place was pretty amazing too. The coolest thing about this campus is that its all connected either over ground or under ground. So we got there and we walked up to their student area and we took a tour of their whole campus. It was an amazing thing to see so many students all inside and reading as compared to BYU's huge outside campus.

Day 3: U OF U!!! YES! Now this was a real treat to come to the U. Even though it was freezing and kind of snowing outside, it was truly a beautiful campus. The campus is bigger than BYU's, and the library was much better. Now I thought that BYU's library was big, and it is, but the U's had so much more to offer. Windows to draw and show diagrams on, little private office rooms for study groups, amazingly comfortable chairs, and the best library access system to get the books for you. The U was truly the coolest college that we visited this week!
Now while on these tours I realized quite a bit I realized that my future totally depends on what I do as a student, son, brother, friend, Mormon, and snowboarder. My college life will revolve around each of these aspects and what I do to show others that these are the things that I focus on in my life. I also realized that I was born to become a history lover, snowboard (of course), and to share my religion with others in this life and the life to come. While I was coming to that realization I found that a few things were holding me back from actually doing that. I realized that sometimes I am holding myself back from excelling or doing an awesome trick, another thing I realized was that there have been people in my life who have held me back for whatever reason, but they are usually no longer around me once I realize what they are doing to me. By realizing all these things I have now come to know that I can do great things. And no one but myself can hold me back from that potential that God has given to me.

Mormon Snowboarding

By using my talent as a Snowboarder I can share my views wherever I go, and whenever I am snowboarding. This will help many people see my views and standards even better while snowboarding. Jeremy Jones (shown below) is an example of a Mormon snowboarder. He uses his talents amazingly to broadcast his presence across the snowboarding world. He is just like the guy I want to become, strong, showing his religion, and always being happy and cheerful. I hope that by doing this I can help spread the gospel on the earth and through the web.

Sharing Gospel Doctrine

"Every disciple of Christ will be most good by adopting  a demeanor worthy of a follower of the Savior."
If we have this demeanor in our lives while we are posting on the internet, then we will soon have many people coming to us and realizing that our church is good. If we make our posts like a disciple of Christ then we will spread the gospel so much faster. Without us trying to help spread the gospel we will not become disciples of Christ.
"As you know, the new media has already profoundly impacted the old world of newspapers and other traditional media. Once upon a time, as a Church leader I might give a newspaper interview, then wait a day or two for it to appear somewhere deep inside the newspaper. Then that newspaper was thrown away, and whatever impact it might have had dissipated rather quickly." This shows how our technology has changed for the better and sometimes for the worse. But by now sharing what the apostles and prophets say we can we can instantaneously share what they say as they are practically saying it.

My Perfect Day

Well as you can obviously see from my blog I love snowboarding. Now we're not talking "oh I go snowboarding a couple times a month," No. We're talking like hard-core, dedicated snowboarding. Like always thinking about snowboarding and never letting a day go by without snowboarding for at least 8 hours, or at least (when I'm at school) thinking about it.
See what most people think about snowboarding is that its a quick sport, most of the time sitting on your butt, or even that its a disgrace to the skiing community. But that's not even close to what its really about. Its about being out there, living in the moment, being with your friends, having a good time, and defiantly not sitting on your butt. If everyone knew that was what snowboarding is really about, then there would be more of us (snowboarders).
Anyways back to my perfect day, haha well it'd probably start around 6:30 a.m. with me waking up, getting my gear all ready, and eating a really high calorie breakfast (snowboarding takes a lot out of you). Up around 7:30 or 8:00 is when I start getting all my gear and meeting my "crew" (group of snowboard buds) at my driveway. My "crew" consists of 3 to 4 people: Issac: Main bud, main motivator of the group, usually the one who pushes me to do the stupid stuff so he can see what it looks like. Colton: Trail blazer, guy who knows all the in's and out's of the resort, crazy man, always there to help start you out with a laugh. Garrett: My little bro. haha this kid is also the only skier that we allow in our group, pretty much the medicine man, trails behind to pick up any slackers that we may have. So there's the "crew" so on our way to the local resort (Sundance) we joke and kid and talk about what runs we're going to hit. 9:00 sharp. Hit. The. Slopes. That simple, immediately we start with some black diamonds and get a lot of mountaineering put in. So for about 3 to 4 hours we just shred and shred and shred and then shred some more. Around 1:00 p.m. we meet up (if we get split up) and eat lunch. At this time we're pretty worn out, but then Colton is always there to make us laugh and get us ready for the day once again. 2:00 p.m. we head back out for some more shredding, only this time we're hitting the park. And this is where Garrett usually comes in to help. Haha we're so busy on trying to see whose trick looks the best that we don't even care if we crash and cut ourselves, but luckily Garrett is there to help keep us within our bounds. so up to about 4:30 we snowboard. Then its about and hour drive back to home, and by then most of us are asleep or totally wacked out. And that is my vision of a perfect day. No amazing trips to Europe. No crazy wishful things. Just me and my buds having an awesome time just doing what we have and always will love doing. Snowboarding.
